What you see in the back is Kogelberg and a road called Sir Lowrey's Pass, 60km east of Cape Town. A lot of tourists that visit Cape Town rent a car and go east on the N2 and than they need to go over that mountain. It's very steep and dangerous, the lanes are not seperated and there is no light at night. A lot of people got/ get killed there. South Africa has one of the highest traffic death rates on Earth!
We were interns working on the other side of that mountain. We got ourselfs a couple of Porsches and because of these incredible speeds going down and our Ayrton Senna corner work, we were demanding a lot from our German machines so we had some engine trouble once in a while. Our Japanese tyres were holding out great btw. (:

Hi Gilbert! I really like the contrastting colors of the cars, the sand/soil and the greens. Very sharp and neat photo! I can see you indeed had troubles with your car. Great catch!rgds!

I like the candid quality of this shot. It doesn't just show us an interesting place, but its got a story as well. Your note makes it even more interesting. This is what TE is all about, every shot doesn't need to be a postcard.

Taillight and the open engine room look like the faces of an animal.
The man who is repairing resembles the dentist.
Trouble of the car in a trip is good recollections.
A background color and light-blue Porsche are contrastive, and beautiful.

I'm not sure what to make of this image either, but I love the background. That you are toiling with something as mundane as car trouble amid such a splendid backdrop is interesting in itself.
Your images, btw, are always interesting!
