Remaining in South Africa I want to share something of the beautiful agricultural land the country has. The area between Malmsebury and Reibeek Kasteel in the Western Cape has been likened to the Tuscan hills of Italy, bathed as it invariably is, in sunshine, and almost equally as famous for its olives and Shiraz red wines.
Here the landscape shows fields of young green wheat and canola watered by winter rainfall and pointing towards a good harvest.

What a beautiful landscape! I always love the way that shadows of clouds can add so much interest and differential lighting to a landscape and this is a perfect example, the sunlight illuminating the mountains and the brilliant yellow fields of canola while the foreground crops remain in relative shade.
Glorious light and colours, perfect composition and exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.

Hi Rosemary. Stunningly beautiful landscape, superb combination of colour and light as the clouds drift past. The title supposedly refers to this part of S.A. and not the parts where misery and despair abound. Regards. Klaudio.

Hello Rosemary ,
A splendid rural landscape , with the moutains in the BG . I like especially the contrasts of colors , the sky , and the game of sahde and light in the fields .

That's a really beautiful rural landscape. I know relatively little about South Africa and always find it's interesting to learn some more. Now I'll have a better idea of the place my South African wine comes from! Very sharp image, from close to far away. A very nice post. Best regards, Claude.

The dark green foreground makes an interesting contrast against the softer background colours. Indeed a very beautiful view here and a very attractive picture!

this is a beautiful looking landscape. the light is fantastic and has produced some wonderfully saturated colours. the fluffy clouds in the sky are also lovely sitting above the hills in the background.
holmertz (42643) 2013-11-11 11:27
The bright green and yellow fields provide a stunning view. The slightly curved lines between the fields and the dark, shaded areas give a kind of dynamism to this vast open space. To be really Tuscan there should also have been some red and blue fields, but I am perfectly satisified with what you found here :-). The clouds are very nice too.

it is so easy to forget this simple fact that you have the spring down there now. Beautiful landscape! I like multiple layers of composition with green, yellow white and blue layers. Great play of the light and shadow on the fields as well. The colors are so natural yet pleasantly well saturated to catch the eye.

Hi dear Rosemary, how are you here?
Great eye-catching image at all, so vivid and fresh.
Very sharp and comfortable image in the details and far via the best horizontal framework and composition. Fantastic color touch as your trademark.
All the best and have a good day! Takero

There are three clear strands of images in this beautiful capture. The first green strip is in the bottom. We see the details of the leaves and the thin stalk in the front and wave of greenery as our vision goes beyond ... This is followed by an expanse of yellow and fields in lighter green. This is followed by the hills that make up the horzon. The third level - at the top is the sky with white clouds.
The width if the scenery and the variety of shades and colours make this a fascinating photograph.
Thanks for sharing, Rosemary.

Love your title! It conjures up images of beautiful fertile land and warm sun, and thats exactly what your capture here is of! The sun shining across the yellow fields is incredible, so vibrant, while the cloud darkening the other areas makes a beautiful contrast. Such wonderful depth too, as we look off into the mountains in the distance. Beautiful shot, title and wine :)
All the best

Compelling photo, I really like the light and shadows in this brilliant composition. The sunlit hills with its landscaping pattern is sublime, you definitely got this at just the right moment. It's like a spotlight that puts focus of the yellow fields and hills. The sky with white clouds is outstanding. Beautiful, wide open look at this location. Excellent photo work.

What a beautiful landscape. The lighting is superb and allows us to see the different tones and shades in the landscape towards the spectacular mountain range in the distance. Love the clouds, the way they just "hang" over the scene. Like it very much.

So beautiful and peaceful looking landscape! Looks more like a painting than a photograph. Love the colors created by the fields. Sharp details. Well done, tfs.

That's an uplifting image to view, standing at the edge of that sea of green and yellow fields combined with a glorious day's sunshine & a nice breeze to keep it fresh is a moment to treasure....
This is just so beautiful - and long may such wondrous sights continue to be photographed and painted. The day we do not see such beauty is the day we all should just give up - I am so delighted you uploaded this wonderful image. Very well done shot, Congrats.

The 'pool' of golden yellow pulls my eye into this lovely landscape. There is an interesting patchwork of colours and textures, and the distant hills are of course essential for the success of this composition.
An amazing landscape captured perfectly.
Kind Regards, Ann
jacquest (18827) 2013-11-13 12:42
An eye catching landscape in which the distance to the mountains creates deepness and a sense of spacious wild spaces. The contrast of yellow and green is beautiful to see and the cloudy sky adds to the composition.
delpeoples (53467) 2013-11-14 23:40
So is this you getting in the mood for your Tuscan Adventure next year? I really can see similarities in the landscape, just missing those cypress and poplar trees! The yellow crops (we call it Canola, others call it rapeseed I think) looks amazing and I love the role that the clouds have played in illuminating the rolling hills but also throwing some of them in darkness. Excellent depth of field here and wonderful, natural colours, where you've resisted the temptation to over-saturate (a temptation I'm not sure I could have resisted).
Have a lovely Friday and thanks for sharing

Beautiful landscape and light.
ChrisJ (100572) 2013-11-16 12:11
Strangely enough this reminds me of the scenery in south Yunnan -province in China near Kunming with the ripening yellow canola contrasting well against the blue skies. Excellent sharpness and a nice wide angled landscape. Good textural and tonal details in the ploughed and contoured fields. Have a nice weekend!
jcpix (13716) 2013-11-20 19:08
This almost looks to good to be true, did you take a photo of a painting? :) The simpleness of this speaks volumes. I absolutely love the rich colors and the way they're patterned to take us off into the distance. Looks and feels like the American Midwest meets the Sound of Music...is Julie Andrews out in that field somewhere with arms spread wide singing as if she's atop the Alps?
Green/yellow/blue, it works splendidly here along with the progressive sunlight from front to back. Great imagery that soothes the senses. Beautiful!
