Chapman's Peak, a photo from Western Cape, West

Photographer's Note

Cape Town is not only one of the most stunning cities in the world, it also bordered by some of the most scenic places you could hope to find. Chapman’s Peak Drive on the Atlantic Coast between Hout Bay and Noordhoek in the Cape Peninsula is one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world. It also forms the gateway between Cape Town and the South Peninsula.

Initially constructed during the First World War, this 9km route with its 114 curves skirts Chapman Peak, the 593m high southerly extension of Constantia Berg, and follows the rocky coastline to unfold breathtaking views in both directions.

The route starts at the picturesque fishing harbour of Hout Bay and the climb winds steeply up to Chapman's Point, revealing breathtaking views of the sandy bays down below, until the road reaches lower levels again at Noordhoek.

Just below where I took this picture, two Southern Right whales were having fun in the shallows near the cliff...just an amazing memory!

Beautiful colours in this picture. The deep blue sky is excellent and I really like your inclusion of some foreground too, adding different textures and colours and a nice balance.Excellent POV and well chosen aperture giving a nice softness towards the very back of the image, great DOF.TFS

A very photogenic place indeed - excellent composition with the flowers in the foreground and the mountains behind. Honestly, I never knew South Africa was so beautiful. The photo is slighlty soft - perhaps a little sharpening might do it good...

How splendid indeed! Three little pink flowers, white shining cloud and waves in blue are truly beautifully captured. I love this deep colour. Fascinating work.
There were no flowers when i visited there last May.
