Photographer's Note
Dear Trekkers
this is one of the many beautiful vineyards in the small town of Franshoek in the cape region of South Africa.
Franshoek, meaning the French corner, was initially settled by French Hugenots fleeing religion persecution in Europe. They brought with them there knowledge of winemaking and started the now important wine industry in South Africa. The buildings are in typical cape dutch architecture usually with thached roofs. Franshoek today is the foodies capital of South Africa with an abudance of Michelin star restaurants and countless vineyards to sample the local produce.

Great composition here, dominating the FG with this character-filled fountain before giving way to an idyllic and beautiful background. The vines at the base of such a sheer cliff face are a nice contrast, and the whole shot is nice and brightly exposed. Thanks for this!

Hello Daniel,
I like this very much. I recently met a couple who lived in Franshoek for a few years - it sounds a very beautiful place and I like the idea of the Michelin star restaurants and vineyards! I like the different elements in this image from the ornamental fountain to the mountain in the BG. Good use of the beautiful light.
Kind Regards, Ann

Hello Daniel - I missed this one while I was in SA and because you mentioned living in Mafikeng, I thought I should have a look at your SA gallery. This just about sums up Franshoek, what a gorgeous place with the vines, lavender, beautiful Cape-Dutch building and mountain back drop. So much that typifies the area all coming together in this wonderful shot. An inspired composition. Well done you! Have a lovely weekend. Rosemary

Hi Daniel,
A beautiful view of a beautiful part of the world. I was lucky enought to visit once, a good number of years ago, and your capture has reminded me of the beaty. The compositions cool, with the smooth rounded edges of the fountain lading up into the mountain, and a path leading us up to the house. Really nicely done.
All the best
Noel
