[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is one of a series of photographs taken on a weekend visit to Cape Town during a month-long business trip to South Africa in October 1988. All were photographed on transparency material, recently scanned and cleaned up using Photoshop CS2 and Neat Image.

The South African Museum, established in 1825 by Lord Charles Somerset, is the oldest and largest museum on the sub-continent. A landmark in the historic Company's Garden, the Museum is housed in an elegant late-Victorian building which was opened in the 1880's and has been enlarged with modern extensions. The centre-piece of the new wing is the Whale Well, one of the Mother city's most spectacular venues.

The ambience of the exhibits, which range from fossil footprints to trance-inspired San rock paintings, lends a unique atmosphere to performances and other events held in the Museum. Celebrating a special occasion or hosting corporate clients in the Whale Well is an unforgettable experience, enhanced by the majestic presence of the Blue Whale. Using the Museum for your special events and conferences furthers awareness of South Africa's rich natural and cultural heritage.

Hello Stephen,
the sun is excellent visible by its strong light here. But also good managed as the textures are great and the bushes in front are well added, even only a bit more than silhouettes. Great building, wonderful POV.

Good shot of the museum nicely framed by the tree on the left. The light looks very harsh but the exposure is good with a dark blue sky. Very well scanned.

Bonjour Stephen,

The brown colour tintes care for a very pleasant picture, do my think at sepia, but this is very lovely for looking, also a nice perspective, nice style of the building. TFS.

Best regards,
John.
