[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took this shot early morning, at Kalk Bay harbour, as the sun was rising over the Helderberg mountains, to the east of Cape Town.
Kalk Bay which is about 20km from Cape Town CBD, is still used by the local fishermen as a shelter for their boats. Just outside of these harbour walls, are some of the largest Great White sharks seen by man, and on a number of occasions, paddlers have been "chased" by a shark, or have had a large chunk of their boats taken by one of the "beasts".

Hi Grant,
Nice colours and reflections on the water. You've captured the early morning light well.
P&S

The faded background works well making the fishing boats jump out at you. I wonder if lighting up the shadows would have added more detail to the boats?

I love the warm tones of the early morning light. The composition is excellent and I like how the boats contrast with the orange light behind them. Very cool looking photograph.
Regards,
Ryan

Hi Grant
I love small fishing ports like this, and specially on a quiet morning like this, it is nice to just stroll around enjoying the atmosphere.
I like the way the sun is approaching from the right and the calm water.
Very nice scene indeed.
Harry
