Photographer's Note

When I look at this photo I always wondered what it was like before man build this wall here to keep out the water. Alongside this wall there is a railway line and the road to Milnerton. When one think about it, the sea must have been here long before the wall or the railway line or the road. The railway line comes from Bellville and the line split somewhere next to Canal Walk Shopping Centre and eventually leads to the harbour. The infrastructure on that piece of line is in a poor condition and the trains needs help from a diesel engine to get to the harbour.

The mountains that you can see is from the left Devil's Peak then Table Mountain itself ( Or part of it) and then Lion's Head and Signal Hill to the right. The city centre is somewhere in front of Lions Head and the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront to the right.
