Photographer's Note

A shot of Knysna Lagoon taken from the Belvidere Estate as the day draws to an end.
The Knysna Lagoon is the largest on the south coast and possesses the highest plant and animal diversity of all South African estuaries. Fed principally by the 64km long Knysna River, originating in the nearby Outeniqua Mountains, the Lagoon covers some 1.827 hectares.

Hi Rosemary,

Wonderful lagoon. I like this quiet feeling. Marvelous clouds reflected in calm water. Interesting composition with a pier. great place to relax. not a place we would thinks it is an African landscape.

the depth of the view and of the colours is mesmerising and it's a pleasure for the eyes to wander around this composition. The details of the pier and of the distant shore stand out with stunning clarity among the deep or moody hues created by the clouds. Rosemary, beautiful colors in this shot. The gazebo on the right perfectly balances the shot and forces the viewer to look at the entire photo rather than just the lovely clouds and reflection. Wonderfully clear, great DOF.

really lovely scene with unique,tranquil mood.But what I like the most about the image is its left part with so delightuful cloud formations and its reflections in the water-it immediately catch my eyes.Furthermore the photo has nice,well-saturated colors and superb luminosity.

Hi Rosemary,
A very beautiful place with a great sense of calm, and I really like how the cloufds almost create a picture within the picture. They encroach on the scene really ll, bringing color and a fine reflection, almost. If they saw you shooting and were determined to be part of the shot. TE little building on the end of the pier is particularly nice too.

ti ripeto i miei complimenti per la tua Africa che, quale che sia lo stato fotografato è sempre meravigliosa.
Soggetti sempre incantevoli e colori da favola sono le caratteristiche di tutte le sue foto ed anche in questa non ti smentisci con una laguna da sogno nella quale blu e rosa si incontrano per disegnare uno scenario incantato.
Nitidezza eccellente e composizione ottima sono il pregio di questa bella foto, una ulteriore conferma della grande attrazione delle bellezze africane.

Beautifully balanced shot, Rosemary - perfectly bisected by the horizon, with the clouds on one end and land at the other, broken only by the picturesque little gazebo that then becomes the focal point. really peaceful beautiful scene - thanks!

Hello Rosemary,I`m usually a little bit wary of putting the horizon in the middle of the image,but I think that it works quite well for you here, mainly because of the really nice reflections in the lagoon.
There is a really tranquil feel about the shot which is super sharp and well balanced.

Dear Rosemary

Ahh this magnificent photo is actually soothing my hangover. Better than any amount of Berocca I could consume! The reflections and their symmetry are just wonderful. The crispness of the lines and colours just blow me away. The amazing thing about this too is that it's in South Africa. When I showed it to Le Pet and asked him to guess where it was taken, he guessed Scotland, as would have. A beautiful shot, thanks for sharing it.

Nice reflection scene ! I like the way this picture is divided. The clouds stop just in the middle of the picture, and I find it gives two atmospheres to the shot.

Hello Rosemary,

It looks a little bit like the UK or Norway,
so you show the viewer that Africa has a lots
of diversity of landscapes. Light management,
pov and composition are great: picture has
beautiful layers and that creates a nice depth
and the open space makes the picture nice
calmness.

It is so lovely to see this high quality photo of Knysna lagoon. I remember this place well and we did a nature walk through a local forest and a trip on the lagoon. The blue water with the reflected clouds are irristible. The landing stage and hut add interest to the composition.

Hello Rosemary

I see you have a few reflection shots in your gallery lately. I'm partial to a reflection or two as you are probably aware! This puts me in mind of a more English, Lake District scene than Namibia; though it seems less hilly.

I like the symmetry in this shot. It has great depth and clarity technically speaking too. Those clouds reflected have a quality that suggests you could reach in and pick them out of the water.
