Photographer's Note

This African elephant picture was taken on Addo Elephant National Park in South Africa. It is close to Port Elizabeth and is a massive 1,640 square kilometres in size (630 sq. miles) and is the third largest national park in the country. It was founded in 1931 as a sanctuary for the 11 elephants that remained alive in the area. There are now more than 500 alongside, buffalo, black rhino and other animals. Addo is also habitat to the unique Addo flightless dung beetle.
Our driver parked the vehicle near a water hole and dozens of elephant ambled across the paved road, almost brushing the vehicle. You will see how close we were in the WS.
