The "Rainbow Nation". Rainbow on the ground and a frozen pie in the sky. If only the world knew, but what would they do anyway? Being one of the most richly endowed countries with minerals in the world, one commodity that it does not have is oil, so no reason to be concerned about humanitarian matters.....this is not Iraq or Libia. A million of these homes have been built after all...if the promises were kept? But they don't live there, the people on the ground do. They live in their palaces of indulgence and corruption and crime.
PS: Due to pressure of work I will not be able to interact with all you wonderful people here but hopefully will be back fairly soon.

The colourful houses look like a rainbow and create a beautiful graphical effect but the underlying story is sad.
Best regards, Paul

The descriptive note says it all! ...
Good shot and a good documentary photography.

Well composed with several distinct horizontal layers or bands. Good sharpness & pp work. The words of an old nursery rhyme come to mind 'and they're all made out of ticky tacky, & they all look just the same', when viewing the vast housing estate. Tfs!

in this photo you offer us a great chromatic effect by means of the rainbow colors in these houses, which form an amazing ensemble in the middle of this wild landscape.
Its contrast with the green tones of the mountains in background, and its graphical power, they are working very well at the composition.
A beautiful work.

Hi Neels. Truly an original photo. You can see everything when you open the thumbnail. And the little houses on the edge of the mountains are really a surprise. I read with interest the informative text. A good contribution to TE.

Excellent photo, there are two parts of the photo - mountains and this village(?). I can see the difference between these two part, it is the order,
I like the rainbow colors

A relevant note to go with that picture! Interesting view as well, I like the graphism provided by the colored houses, the mountains displayed in layers.
It looks like you've used some noise removal software (it specially shows in the BG) which gives contrast with the graphical FG.

the view as the presentation of the Rainbow Nation on the foreground makes the image so effective as its variety of colours contrast perfect with the others of the image.A really inky spot for this big and rich country of Africa.

Interesting landscape! Those houses are really something! Is this a housing project by the government? They really look beautiful from this POV, i bet it would be so much beautiful if the day was fairer. Nonetheless, great capture! Great note as well.
All the best,
