Photographer’s Note
Taken at a reptile farm in Nelspruit Mpumalanga, there were several of these crocodiles lazing about. Nelspruit is close to the Kruger national park where you can see all sorts of African animals including the big five: Elephant, lion, rhino, leopard and buffalo. They derived their name from the big game hunters of old. It has nothing to do with size - these are the five most dangerous animals when wounded while hunting - often turning back in their tracks and lying in wait fot the persuing hunters.
I was not sure if I preferred this shot in colour or black and white because I thought that the black and white brought out the textures better, but the colour was more eye catching.
Check out the workshop version and please let me know what you think.

Hi Wanda,
very nice portraits of this smiling beauties :D
I can't decide which to prefer, to b&w has a lot of nice parts too, as you have to focus more on light and lines, here you add the colors and because of the blurred background both are good.
Thanks for the information in the note - I will avoid hunting them.
Cheers, Ulf

Interesting compsosition with the choice of narrow focusing on the first one. It results in some special effect where the eyes are moving fron one to another alternatively for a while crating some interesting depth.

Shucks these guys are big time ugly wanda!!! I wonder how you spent time trying to capture them in your camera. Love the way you've captured their texture and those dangerous looking teeth which I surely would want to stay away from! Nice composition though with good lights and pov.
One word of advice: They look pretty mean, don't go back to them!!!

Hello Wanda,
what an impressive double portrait. Very well framed, with perfect sharpness and well visible details of the texture of their skin. The dof is very good and my choice is for the coloured version. Well done!
Tfs and best wishes.

Hi Wanda,
Excellent close shot of the Croc. Good use of the shallow DOF. I would prefer the colour version.

Hello Wanda,
Man these are ugly beasts! I wouldn't tell it to them to their faces or they would bite me in half with one snap of their jaws. The sharpness and composition is outstanding and I presume that you were using a pretty powerful telephoto lens. You are very fortunate to live near this fantastic national park and I have heard many very high compliments about your South African parks. I much prefer your color version. You do great work!
