The Venda (Vhavhenda or Vhangona) are a Southern African people living mostly near the South African-Zimbabwean border.
This young Venda girl was quite worried when I came up to her and asked her for a photo, but in the end she accepted

As described in your note, the girl does not seem confortable, but it is also a part of the interest of this portrait: sharing a feeling.
Good setting for the depth of field: the girl is well sharped with the background put in the background and making easier the focus of the reading on the portrait.

This is a lovely portrait. The girl is very pretty and her slightly worried appearance makes her look totally natural. The light and colours are perfect and the background, although blurred, gives us some idea of the rural environment.

even if she accepted to be taken in picture, she does not feel confortable, and it's a bonus for the photo, far away from the common portraits.
Good camera setting to get the background blurred wheras she is pin sharp.

While I don't want the poor child to be concerned at having her photograph taken, it's true that her expression is more interesting and characterful than the more usual vacuous grin! Good use of shallow DoF to suggest the environment but not have it intruding.

Hello Wanda. What, for an expressive face - perfectly captured with the camera. The interaction between you and the girl was very successful.
Overall a masterful photo.

Hi dear Wanda, how are you recently?
Very impressive and appealing portrait in the best angle and perfect framework. Quite reasoanble colot touch. Her a little and worries eyes are so meaningful at all.
All the best and have a good Saturday! Takero from cold Tokyo

Wanda photographing a Venda! Such intensity of gaze and a smile is definitely not about to shine forth. Still, a sweet photo in its own right of this girl who must be wondering,"Why Me?" All the best to her and you for the coming year. Keep posting from your lovely country. Regards. Klaudio.
