Sadly Rhino poaching has become a huge problem in South Africa, and these poor animals numbers are dwindling rapidly.
Since the start of the poaching epidemic in 2008 South Africa has lost over 2000 rhinos, and already 408 since the beginning of this year alone. - a figure that, despite so much effort, increases daily.
As we were approaching this family the parents were very protective over their little one.

nice to have you back more often on TE these last days
Never had so far the opportunity to meet rhinos when in safari
Very close and impressive, well rendered

lovely family. i guess you couldn't dare (or were not allowed) approaching more than the range of full 300mm.s. as far as i knew, poaching was something related to cooking, but it also means hunting, i guess. your note is depressing: 408 lost, this year alone??? someone should stop the greed of humanity. i hate it >:(

Là, c'est du lourd! Superbe scène familiale, très touchante malgré le volume impressionnant des animaux.

This is a touching and interesting photo. You were lucky to get so close to these strange but fascinatng animals.
Poaching has become such a huge problems that, to my mind, it should be regarded as equal to a crime against humanity and treated that way. I don't have words for how much I detest those who buy extracts of rhinos, elephants, tigers and other endangered animals - and the governments who don't stop it.

Certainly Rhinos parents are very protective. As far as I know you should not touch their young otherwise the parents will chase you. POV is very good, keeping a safety distance in mind. Nice pastel colour tones and high sharpness. Well done

Ah, this is so cute a lovely family portrait showing such intimate moment between them. Love how the 3 faces come together in the center of the image. The different sizes of them really show who is who.
Great shot. Great to know they still have wild open land of their own.

Wow, I can easily imagina that a car does not feel safe enough place if these decide that you are a threat to the little one! Very strong group, good tight framing and important and so sad note.
