Photographer’s Note
This is breakfast, African style! *G*
This photo was taken during a camping trip in September. I posted a photograph of
the sunset previously. This is the breakfast we had the following morning.
The sausages are called "boerewors" (farmer's sausages). They are being cooked on the upturned lid of the cast iron pot we use to make "potjiekos" (a stew cooked in a pot) Cooking the sausages in this way reduces the number of cookware you have to carry; you then don't have to carry a pan/skillet as well.
And what are those oranges doing in the fire, you might ask? Well, that is how you do your eggs if you don't have a pan...
Method: Take one orange, cut the top off.
Hollow out the contents and eat that in the mean time.
Break the egg into the orange shell.
Place in open fire and cook until done.
Enjoy!
Post processing: cropping, sharpening, slight colour enhancement. More than this, and the grass turns a very jaundiced shade of yellow.

Nice overhead angle chosen capturing the delights of this campers breakfast. Like the way you have managed to get a clear view of the fire's smoke.
Thanks for the recipe. I would like to try the eggs with my Girl Guide group in Canada.
I noticed the extension of the branch over the stones. This is dangerous, especially with so much dry grass. Hope you don't mind me adding this comment (safety first). Would love to see some more shots of your camping trip.

Good thing there is a solid fire ring with all that dried grass around. I lived in Botswana where we'd have have trouble finding that many stones, or that much grass!
I love the egg pots. Very colourful and clever.

This breakfast makes an attractive composition of colors (orange spots), ideas of cooking and happiness of being in an natural environment. I would just have added a larger view to integrate this environment. Very useful note, regarding the eggs cooking... great idea!
