Photographer’s Note

I thought I would post something different today from my younger days, I suppose its not really TE material but anyway.

Cubanate is an industrial metal band from London, founded in 1992 by Marc Heal and Phil Barry with Graham Rayner and Steve Etheridge. The group became well-known known for its early fusion of distorted metal guitars, and techno percussion (later incorporating breakbeats) with industrial electronics and vocals.

They came to play in Johannesburg in '97 and this is from that concert.

Wanda,
this image is already out there for at least 1 hour and no one to dares to give a first bite on it? It certainly deserves more attention then that. It certainly has this flare of pre-digital era. The typical noise that only a film can give. It provides a real nostalgic ambience to this rather aggressive metal band. The singer appears almost like a zombie with the abscence of his iris, just the white of his eyeballs. But, what really makes the image jump out, already as thumbnail, are the centered light rays coming from the back.

interesting photo. I like the star of light behind his back and also his pose between relaxed and agressive.
I wonder what he has done to his eyes?

Hi Wanda,
He looks like a metallic angel (like the one in Rammstein's Mein Teil movie clip), and quite an aggressive one, ready to bite any photographer, daring to approach him with a camera. But your survived the act, thankfully...
The film borne grains are fantastic. Industrial metal band in grains, is a very strange mix, as grains are usually working for giving an "old look".
