Photographer's Note
Johannesburg, also known as Jozi and Joburg by locals, is the largest city in South Africa, by population.
The city is one of the 40 largest metropolitan areas in the world and is also the world's largest city not situated on a river, lake, or coastline.

Hi Andre,
I am envious seeing this wonderful panorama as I am not brave enough to go to South Africa. It must be terrific there. Amazing colours and so many details in this photo. If it is not situated on the river or lake where they have water from? Excellent presentation.
Warm regards

Magnifique heure bleue-pourpre sur cette mégapole visiblement très animée. Tu as toujours le chic pour trouver les endroits élevés d'où la vue est la meilleure.

Hello André,
This view used to be my daily view for many years of my childhood, so it is great to see it back through your vision. Love the purply pinky hues in the sky and the twinkling lights of the city of gold. The stadium is nice and subtly lit showing off some good details there too.

Hi Andre, Its great to see such a great photo of my old home City. I was trying to establish where you may have taken this photo from- am I right it would have been from somewhere in the South East. I used to live in Sunninghill and could see the skyline from my 3rd floor apartment - with Hill brow Tower, Post office tower and Ponte. Is that the new Athletics stadium in the fg? You have captured it well and its lovely to see it.. Have a great week ahead Rich

Yves.

Hi Andre,
I have visited Johannesburg but never saw it like that or was even aware of such viewpoint. I wonder how much skyline has changed since 1998. Brilliant colours and those star shaped lights. I guess at least that stadium is new.

Ciao Andre,
panorama incredibilmente bello, nitido e molto profondo.
Stupenda la miriade di luci che illumina Johannesburg, il tutto condito ed impreziosito da un cielo che ha assunto una colorazione meravigliosa.
Un caro saluto.

Namaste my friend!
My sister who stays in Jo'burg would be thrilled to see this shot! A great shot under the blue (or pink?) hour sky. Quite a lot of verticals competing against each other reaching for the sky. The massive structure in the centre looks like the football stadium?!
Nice, really nice!
With Warmest Regards

Salut cher Andre
Such a stupendous Pink Hour photo and of a city we do not see enough of here on TE. It is like nothing I imagined. It is so modern - a real metropolis. And of course your nocturnal shot is superbly lit, with incredible depth of field and framing. Great job and thanks for sharing.

Hi Andre,
Spectacular capture, a very fine shot. Pitty for the bad name the city safety has.
Have a good day.

Hi Andre
Sorry for the late reply, i was in california for a week. back to cold and wet BC weather!
As a lover of cityscape and blue hour, its funny that my favorite part of this photo are the trees that look like brocolli! :)
the Football stadium is also another favorite feature, with its flood lights illuminating the scene.
another great visual is the natural lighting reflecting onto all the windows, in the FG and all the way into the BG too.
the 2 obvious towers reach upwards into the blue, giving height to the otherwise flat surrounding areas.
So glad you composed this with the brocolli along the bottom
cheers

Hello Andre,
As you may guessed by my theme, I really enjoy a great skyline. This photo is simply sensational. Perfect time of day, with a great sky, splendid composition and great twinkling effect of the lights. More importantly, though, I am glad that you are highlighting the beauty of urban areas in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is easy to focus on under-development, but it is equally important to show that many African cities are incredibly vibrant and rapidly growing.
Cheers,
Caleb
