Photographer's Note

Golden Gate National Park includes the vast colourful sandstone formations, which shine golden-yellow in the evening sun, and from which the area derives its name.

This particular one is called Mushroom Rock, located near the nice town of Clarens.

Magnifique paysage. Le cadrage vertical donne une belle idée de la hauteur des rochers. Le nuage en formation sur ce ciel bleu ressort magnifiquement et la lumière rasante du soir montre tout le relief du site. Félicitations.

Hi Andre,
I miss a few of your wonderful shots from the city, trying to catch up with every one, I'll get to your other shots later.

This one grab my attention by the thumb nail with that puffy white mushroom clouds. The red cliff makes me think of Utah and Arizonas but the lush green vegetation contradict it. It is better to see both the warm earth tone and lush green tropical setting, the clouds is truly amazing, it's like you can squeeze water out of it....or one of them cotton candy yum! Sweet.

Perfect time with the late afternoon sun light. Over all colors are beautiful with just the right amount of saturation to make the whole scnery pops but not overly saturated, and the vertical format give great depth to the landscape and accentuate the height of the cliff. I'm carious to see a horizontal format to see the overall setting as well.

Comme dit précédemment , un vrai plaisir à regarder . C'est la perfection et on apprend beaucoup sur la façon de composer une image. Ici , tout est à sa place . La lumière est magnifique , les nuages impressionants , les couleurs plaisemment saturées .
Tous les ingrédients pour nous faire découvrir de la meilleure manière ce très beau paysage .

Bonjour André,

C'est un paysage superbe et bien présenté. Les divers sujets à des distances différents donnent un effet de grande profondeur. Une belle clarté et netteté, tout est harmonieux dans cette image.
Superbe cadrage qui met bien en évidence les falaises rocheuses et le ciel magnifique. Bonne saturation et lumière.

Andre, this is unbelievably beautiful! The foreground, the sandstone formation and the sky - just fabulous. The official name of the sandstone formation is the Clarens Formation (South African Committee for Stratigraphy) and it formed when the whole of Southern Africa was a sand desert shortly before the Earth's crust started cracking, during the Jurassic Period, in the early stages of the break-up of the supercontinent Gondwana. Lava flowed out through the cracks onto the sandstones and can be seen in the upper levels of the park and capping the Lesotho Highlands.

Les couleurs de cette image sont tout bonnement splendides. En voyant de tels décors, on se demande quels cataclysmes ont pu créer ces splendeurs naturelles.

Bonjour André,
que c'est chouette quand on a de telles lumières, et un ciel aussi mitigé, il ne manque plus que le talent du photographe, que tu possèdes amplement, pour nous plonger à 100% dans le naturel semi sauvage de cet endroit. Opposition séduisante entre couleurs chaudes des roches et le bleu intense du ciel, j'adore.

Great title, the rock formation does indeed look like a giant cepe, the green winding foreground leads us straight into the frame
