Photographer’s Note
This is one of my older photos. Taken on a drive down to the Cape from Johannesburg on our way to a festival which was held on a giant salt pan. This was close to a place called Bloemfontein.
Taken on Ilford HP5 400iso film, and hand developed and then scanned in.

A wonderful b/w shot Wanda that captures the sprwling landscape with bales of hay stacked up to be picked for use. You've got a nice POv and a great angle to the well lit up shot...wonder what it looks like in color. Great work as usual.

Hi Wanda,
that's interesting! I like the graphism, the angle and, most of all, the diagonal horizon. I'm agree with Vincent that grainy black enhance the geometry.
I see you've so many technichs to share!!!

Nice geometrical composition with very nice curves. The scanning/post-processing giving this grainy black and white dotted feeling enhances the geometry focus. Very interesting.

A strongly graphic image Wanda, and the featureless white sky is perfect here. Any clouds or definition there would have spoiled the effect.
I like the massive contrast and grain, and the way the lines of the stubble run at an angle to the sloping line of the hillside.
Good work.
Cheers,
Ben

Hi Wanda,
First of all, I wish you a happy New Year, full of joy and passion!
Here’s one from your part of the world, with a very high key B&W. Most of the grey tones are gone so the result is more graphic, which goes perfectly with the landscape. The texture in the field pop-up and the hay rolls are almost black, like some notes on a sheet of music.
Nice contrast of shapes, between ondulating lines and straight cutting diagonal slope.
I like your new personnal photo :-D)

Hi Wanda, Another beauitful image in your collection. I am interested in SA photos as I have several friends from there. One in particular comes from a working-class background while another comes from a rather wealthy background. It is interesting to hear their very different perspectives. Cheers, Paul.
