In Somaliland people use Somaliland Schillings.
One dollar is about 6500 Schillings(winter 2004), and the highest value note is 500. One "pack" of money contains 100 notes, one note is usually 500 Schillings, so it's worth 50 000 SSch= $7,5...
As you can see, these guys are not a millionaires and they need no security. There are plenty such stolls in Hargeysa and you can exchange your money almost everywhere(it's impossible in banks), but be careful for cheathers.
You can forget about your wallet, You will need there a big bag to carry your money....
I was wondering whether they don't use dollars instead their currency and I guess that their patriotism is the answer.

Impressive picture. Technically leaves much to be desired (overexposed, lacks focus) but what it potrays is very interesting and unique. I also appreciate the note.
