This shot was taken on Ile aux Cerf, the building is a small hotel built in a style typical to that of the Seychelles and loosely based on the old plantation houses that the original settlers of the islands built.
Due to the fact that the Seychelles Islands was not occupied until the 1700’s, the architecture finds its roots in the era of colonization. Whilst traditional, the archaic mansions and bungalows built in the colonial times certainly reflect the luxurious living of the wealthy plantation and land owners. Plantation estates were built around cinnamon, coconut, and vanilla industries. The traditional plantation estate focused on a courtyard with an owner's or manager's house and various smaller outbuildings. Typical town houses had a general Victorian form, but with its roofs and walls made of corrugated iron sheets.
As agriculture declined, many homes were later constructed in an architecture common to many former British colonies, such that there is often a flat roof with a slight slope and windows with many horizontally arranged panes that can be tilted in order to allow easy circulation of air. In general the houses the in Seychelles are all designed in a neat manner with steep terraces and large verandas. The verandas were purposely made that way in order for inhabitants to enjoy the wonderful Seychelles climate.

I always said that if (when) I win the lottery, I will buy a house with a balcony, it seems so appealing. I guess in this climate its a given that its something that would make such a large feature of a building. You have captured this beautifully well, a great angle showing depth and width, with a great contrast of light not only on the house, but also across the tropical trees.
This certainly looks like a luxurious place, one I would like to stay in. I can imagine sipping a drink in that balcony and watching the world go by. I need to get my Eurolotto ticket!
Excellent note again too, thanks for that.
Best wishes to you from Ireland, I hope you are well!
All the best

I do find this sort of architecture very attractive. As you say, they are a throwback to the colonial age and the time of the big plantations; similar styles can be found in the Southern United States and the West Indies. You have captured this one very well indeed. I like the lighting and the colours. Excellent clarity.

these old houses have so much character, and if walls could talk you do wonder what stories they could tell. This one is immaculate and you have captured it flawlessly. Looks amazing!
Have a great weekend - B.

bel palazzo, lo stile coloniale mi è sempre piaciuto,la mia camera da letto è in questo stile.
Splendida la luce, mi piace la sua tonalità calda, soprattutto sulle foglie delle palme.

the unmistakeable colonial style architecture makes the hotel so attractive surrounded as it is by the palm trees beneath that lovely sky.
The long shadows and golden light suggest that this was taken late in the day, just in time for a beer or two.
Warm regards Les.
