I took this photo in Guet Ndar, one of the poorer neighbourhoods of Saint-Louis. Several of these boats were being built on the beach. They are the boats traditionally used by small fishermen to earn their living.
In recent years however, these boats, which are called in Spanish «Cayucos», are being used to try to reach the Canary islands...
