Photographer’s Note

Le soir, j'aime regarder la vie en ombres.
Les mouvements prennent plus de grace.
Les sentiments sont plus purs.
Les filles se rapprochent de leurs mères.
Elle se racontent leurs journées.
Elles se coiffent et se tressent.
Elles se retrouvent.

Ce n'est pas une image habituelle, mais je trouve le geste très pur et tellement africain.
J'ai délibéremment choisi de l'isoler à outrance.
Je ne sais pas si vous aimerez.

The evening, I like to look at the life in shades.
The movements take more grace.
The feelings are purer.
The girls approach their mothers.
They speak about their days.
They cappe and braide together.
They are well together.

This picture is not usual.
But i like the gesture. It is so african.
I choised to isolate it unremittingly.
I don't know if you will like.

Bonjour Bertrand, donc si.... j'aime beaucoup les silhouettes adaptées dans au tableau de la mère en lui faisant des tresses à fille, une image pure comme tu dis dans ta note, dans beaucoup d'occasions dans ce qui est simple celle-ci la vérité.
Une photo en B/N avec beaucoup de message pour moi.

hi Bertrand, black is black...the pitch black of the silhouettes here is so strong that the 2 people are transformed into symbols of a mother and child, this makes the photo morre universal, though the black still refers to the black continent. love ther result.

Superbe ce jeu d'ombres, enfin, de silhouettes. On eut faires des trucs formidables avec un petit A95, ou G7 autant qu'avec un monstre comme le 5D. Parfois c'est meme beaucou plus discret,donc superieur.
En tout cas, felicitations, Bertrand, iour cette belle image.

From the technical point of view is a very well done photo: They have become as dark as shadows, but still we are able to realize what they are doing. Hair is always a huge concern in women, but in afro women even more. Take care Bertrand.

Bertrand bonjour et très content également de te retrouver sur TE (j'ai pu enfin me dégager un week end au Mali pour faire quelques photos) - J'ai également retrouvé entre temps au téléphone un de mes vieux amis, Jean Claude Termoz, qui était propriétaire de la Brasserie du Commerce à Voiron (qui est maintenant devenue un supermarché ??). Splendide tes silhouettes qui donnent une nouvelle dimension aux coiffures africaines (je crois n'avoir jamais réussi une bonne photo lors de ces séances de coiffure)

Effectivement, j'aime aussi beaucoup l'attitude de cette mère en train de coiffer sa fille, c'est de l'africain pur jus.
Par contre, je ne suis pas complètement persuadé du parti-pris ombre chinoise, c'est pas le même continent :D
J'aurais aimé voir une version avec les acteurs "débouchés" pour pouvoir comparer.
En tout cas, l'attitude est superbe.

Encore une photo gagnante, elle serait passée devant mes yeux dans une séléction et automatiquement elle aurait été retenue: Je dis cela parceque je me trouve dans ce genre de comité 3 ou 4 fois par mois.Le sprofils sont impeccables comme metté et rien ne vien gêner l'action.. Cela me rappelle les silhouettes noires que l'on découpe avec des ciseaux.

very creative this one with the shadows showing us something very typical from the african culture, the works on hair. In Portugal we have a very large comunity of africans and there are even hair-dressers specialized on this kind of art on the hair. Some are for my taste very strange but other ones are real hair art.
This is a very nice way to show it, very delicate and with charm.
