This is another photo of the same place, not far from Kedougou, Eastern Senegal. It takes a lot of work to find something and here we can have an idea about it. All around there are people digging and looking for gold, trying hard to improve their living conditions.

a superbly observed and composed view, it's stunning how much information we get from this quiet scene. It's like reading an article that describes daily life in this part of the world but the mood we perceive through the colours and the worker's attitude would be difficult to describe so eloquently using words. Textures and depth are marvelous, all the details have great value. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,

This one of your recent series is my favorite with its pov and layout.

Bon point de vue sur cette étonnante "mine d'or". Belle composition avec l'homme, visiblement harassé, en point fort.

There couldn't be a more perfect picture to document the futility of searching for the lucky shot in finding the jackpot in gold in this bleak picture. The working and living conditions here look as bleak as the prospect of finding gold. But as we say: Hope is never dying, they will trudge on in vain for ever.
Very interesting documentary photo indeed.
have a great weekend

I hope those people found some gold, it would surely improve their life and that of their family. I thought about panning for gold in the California rivers but it looks like it's too much work even for fun. Nice capture of this scene with nice details. Well done, tfs.

Another take and this time from a wider perspective showing more detail of the worked areas and the prospector is there to give us some ideas of the whole activity and condition of the place. I love that there is a link between him and the slippers which helps tie the image together as both rightly deserve equally attentions. Timely shot and great finishing touch with much feeling! This is an excellent addition to your gallery for sure. Congrats, Congrats

to me the empty shoes are somehow symbolic of the prospectors luck, this is such an emotive scene brilliantly composed and sympathetically presented,a fine documentary photograph.
