Photographer’s Note
This has nothing to do with black American music or even ice-hockey. This is the city of Saint-Louis in the north-western corner of Senegal, right on the border with Mauretania. A picturesque city with a mixture of Sahelian, African style and a French colonial heritage.
This was scanned from a Kodachrome slide.

Hi Gert,
This scenario remembers me of my holidays in Zanzibar a vew years ago and I imagine it can also be use as a nice decor for an old British colonial film....
Great caught with a classical touch, chapeau!

Hello Gert,
Strange as it might seem, my very first impression: the colour gamma of this photo makes me imagine it's something in quite a different world... or it is a scene from a movie about places which never chance and have preserved their old Colonial style forever...
I also like the soft reflection in the rippled water!
very interesting, very good composition! And it's nice to see a person dressed in red :)
kind regards,
Elena

A city that I never saw although I spent some months working in Senegal but only south of Dakar where I was based - no occasion to go there although I was very attracted ! I like this sort of colours (maybe due to the old slide too) and the nostalgic atmosphere of the place. Strangely, it reminds me a bit of Haiti also... Great feel !
Best,
Cath.

Hi Gert,
Very nostalgic picture, with palms, boats, scene from everyday life. A bit misty and mysterius. And such a calmness! I like it very much. Regards

Hej Gert,
For the first time in a long time, I was thinking about the fact that this is a scanned photo. In some way the scanning procedure here have made it looking lika a painting more than a photo, and I like that effect. The diagonal from the palmtrees makes the balance just right.

Hej Gert,
This reminds me of a picture postcard from many years ago. There is a certain timeless feeling here with all those palms. If you look carefully you can see the car that spoils this feeling, but it it really hard to see it. A very fine picture!

Hello Gert,
A good documentary from times gone by!
A fine slice of life by the waterside, the colours seem to be well preserved on film...
Classical composition, where the palm trees are outstanding elements!
