Photographer’s Note

On the banks of the Senegal river in Saint-Louis... Dugouts, nets, shelters of fortune and stalls of fish drying with the sun, a typical aspect of the district of the fishermen of Guet N'Dar.
The women prepare there fish fished by the men. Salted then covered with oil of shark (in order to draw aside the flies!), the fish are put to dry. Another preparation consists in smoking them or to let them ferment... it is easy for you to imagine the characteristic odor which reigns in this place!
