Photographer’s Note
Santo António is the main settlement of Príncipe island in São Tomé and Príncipe and was the then colony's capital from 1753 until 1852. It lies on the north east coast and the Palhota River. It serves as the capital of both Príncipe Province and the district of Pagué and has an estimated population of 1,200 residents.
The town is known for its colonial architecture and for its churches, the largest of which is the main Roman Catholic church, begun in 1947.
Príncipe is the smaller of the two major islands of São Tomé and Príncipe. It has an area of 136 km² and a population of around 5,000 people. It rises in the south to 948 metres at Pico de Príncipe, in a thickly forested area forming part of the Obo National Park. The north and centre of the island were formerly plantations but are now also largely forest. The adiministration includes only one district named Pagué. The languages other than Portuguese includes Principense or Lunguyê with a few Forro speakers.
This island has the pride of being the site where Einstein's Theory of relativity was experimentally proved successful by Eddington and his team during an eclipse in 1919.

I love the busy-ness of the street shown here and the so much colour in the clothing and the buildings. I think you've lightened the shadows a little too much and perhaps a bit more contrast would improve the picture further but it is very good as it is.

Ciao Alberto,
I checked the place on the atlas first. I like your street scene is the full with life. Spanish (Portugal) effects are easily recognizable from architectures. Congratulations.
I would like to wish you and your family a joyful and peaceful holiday season, and a prosperous New Year.
Best Regards,
Ertugrul

Hello Alberto,
I have heard that Sao Tome and Principe islands are beautiful and they have very hardly accessible places in theirs interior. Nice daily life picture from this so poorly known country in Europe... I like people caught in motion and nice colours.
Best regards,
Andrzej

ciao!

Hi Alberto,
A wonderful colourful street scene. I like the way some of the peoples clothing matches some of the colours on the buildings. Nicely composed.

Grazie
Matteo

Olá Alberto,
Belas cores desta ilha pouco conhecida.
Ciao,
