[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In early April 1982 I arrived in Lagos, Nigeria, winding up a long journey through West Africa. I was dropped off in a slummy area on the edge of Lagos Island and had to walk along very crowded and chaotic streets until I reached the centre and could start looking for a hotel.
Lagos wasn't really the nicest place I've seen, a very unsuitable city to walk alone at night, but during daytime it was not too bad.
This picture was scanned from a Kodachrome slide. It also happens to be my posting # 200 for TE.

Hej Gert,
Congratulations to # 200! This is not a city I would like to visit. It seems like this trip is coming to an end. Where will you go from here?

However, this is an interesting photo in the true TE spirit!

Congratulation to the 200th post! Lagos is not so typical tourist spot, so it is interesting to see on your well composed picture.

Hi Gert,
What a fantastic bustling street scene. There are many fascinating things to discover in your picture. I'm particularly intrigued by the 'school buses' (though I'm not sure that's what they are!)
Congrats on your 200th & best wishes,
Caleb

Hi Gert,
Congratulations on your 200 post. Interesting shot, the crowed street with vendors and traffic, the yellow vehicles & of course the prominent coca cola sign.
Regards
Santo

You'v Captured the the impression in a very good way, and I'm pretty sure that things have not been better during those more then 25 years that have passed. it looks like a real hurley burley city.

Hello Gert,
ths photo is just great! you captured the daily life scene perfectly... especially with those yellow buses.
Now that I'm particularly interested in your photos, I remember that when I first found the TrekEarth site and started looking for photos taken in Africa and Asia, I happened to browse on this photo. I remember that I even saved it to my computer for further detailed viewing: it left a deep impression on me, it has some special air which I may fail to explain.
TFS!

Hello Gert
This photo really captures the spirit of daily life in Lagos - not that I have been there! There is so much going on. Your photos could become an alternative to actually travelling myself - I hope not! Good scan. Marlene
