Simple but delightful.
Anybody who thinks the West is Best should see the scowls on the faces of hair salon customers (and see the prices)- this scene looks so relaxed and happy.

Hello, Alex. I love the warmth of this scene, shown in th expressions of the women, the barefeet, and the lovely blends and variations of orange throughout. Cropping out the whiter part to the left might make bring the focus in even better to the women themselves, but I'm not sure. Again, you have really caught a beautiful and enlightening moment. -- Ellie

Hi Alex,
I like pictures with interesting atmosphere and scene. This for sure has both. In some cultures cutting hair is a very private "time" or ritual I would even say.
You spotted a very nice situation. Good work.
As for the picture I think it would look good too if you cut the left side of the picture, just along the edge of the bright wall placing the main object a bit off centre, but that is just a suggestion,

I have NO criticism of this image, which I think is terrific in every respect. I did want to address others whose criticism and workshop suggested off-centering the subjects, however.

Reading the photographer's response to one critique reveals this was an impromptu shot, making it true photojournalism. Because of this, the "rules" can be relaxed, especially the rule which mandates mandatory off-centering-the-main-subject rule (and I am being deliberately redundant about this statement).

The important aspect of having these women front-and-center in this image is the essential CONTEXT provided by all of the background taken together. The recessed doorway, the stoop, the angularity and scope of the walls, and, the coloration of the whole scene. None of that could have been cropped without detracting from the editorial value of this scene.

One workshop shows the image cropped in full faithfulness to that rigid-rule-requiring-offsetting-the-subject-from-the-center rule (deliberately redundant statement). Take a look at the result: the aspect ratio of the image is so out-of-wack that the whole "look and feel", the whole sense of place and the relaxed mood of the original have been cropped away and thrown on the virtual digital editing floor. Nah, that was a poor crop, causing a much bigger problem only to satisfy some Photography 101 basic "RULE".

Beautiful color tone in the picture. They're all get along so well accept a little cream box in green but luckily this box is so tiny and it doesn't disturb picture much. I love this pic a lot. Congratulations !!!

The photo is well-framed, with the door edging the top and the womems feet defining the bottom. Maybe a little more color tweaking would pull out the warmth. Overall, a warm freindly picture.
