Photographer’s Note

Here's a Toubou campement in the Tal desert. In the early 1990s, the nomadic Tuareg in the north and Toubou in the east engaged in an armed rebellion against the Nigerien state, asking for more political rights and a more equitable distribution of national resources. A fragmented guerrilla war ensued in the Aïr, Azawak, Manga, and Kawar regions, prompting the local Arab and Peulh communities to create self-defence militias as the rebels began stealing cattle and property to fund their war effort. Three peace accords in Ouagadougou (1995), Algiers (1997), and N’Djamena (1998), followed by the adoption of a new constitution in 1999 and fresh elections in 2000, restored peace in Niger.
The leader of Democratic Front for Renewal, a toubou rebel group, was our actual Minister of public health, who signed peace accord with the governement of Niger in 1998. We were in Lakani together to start tuberculosis control activities in nomadic areas in the east of Niger.

che foto interessante e bellissima, pochi hanno mai avuto la tua opportunità di visitare questo popolo come hai fatto tu. Mi piacerebbe vedere anche il ministro, e credo che debba essere un personaggio davvero interessante.

Qui l'immagine è ricca di atmosfera e ben fatta; immagino che le cose dietro ai cammelli siano le loro tende, stranamente di forma allungata.

Bella immagine, Alberto, mi ricorda vagamente un viaggio che ho fatto qualche anno fa all'interno del Sinai, dove si vedevano le tribù nomade dei Beduini.
Sempre interessanti le tue note.

J'avais été fascinée par les charmants sourires des 2 dames (ta dernière photo) mais celle-ci est aussi formidable, par la finesse de ses détails... Je me suis permis un petit WS pour éclaircir un peu cette scène magistrale, j'espère que tu l'apprécieras et que ce que j'ai fait ne te choquera pas car souvent, on s'habitue à l'aspect des photos qu'on a prises et on a du mal à accepter une autre vision.
C'est frappant de voir si loin toutes ces petites silhouettes, une superbe photo à mon avis !

Bonjour Alberto,
Je m'aperçois que j'ai un peu oublié ta galerie et il y a de belles photos que je n'avais pas vues. La composition de celle-ci est parfaite avec ces trois chameaux à gauche et cette animation très colorée. J'aime aussi découvrir les tentes derrière, c'est étrange, je ne les imaginais pas du tout avec cette forme et je les pensais beaucoup plus hautes.
Bravo, c'est magnifique.
