| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This was taken at Dead Vlei in Namibia. The Dead Vlei is surrounded by towering sand dunes of Sossuvlei. There used to be water in Dead Vlei 1000 years ago, and trees used to grow, however now there is no water, the ground is extremely dry, and nothing grows here any more. According to my guide, the trees have been dead for hundreds of years, maybe 1000 years, however they are still here as there are no bacteria to help decompose them. It is quite a surreal and other-worldly place, one of my favourite places in Southern Africa.
I played with contrast in photoshop to make the scene more dramatic, otherwise made no changes. |

Hi Marina,
lovely capture of marvelous place! Great composition, motive and colours. Still I think that it would be even nicer if it would be little more sharp. I made a suggestion in workshop, hope it won't bother you.

Indeed, quite surreal.
It may happen in other parts of the world too.
