Quiver tree (Aloe dichotoma), also known as Kokerboom, is a species of aloe indigenous to South Africa, specifically in the Northern Cape region, and Namibia. A good example of a quiver tree forest is to be seen on the road from Nieuwoudtville to Loeriesfontein. Its vernacular name comes from the fact that its branches and bark are used by the bushmen to make quiver for their arrows. Modeling of Aloe dichotoma in South Africa and Namibia has contributed to understanding of protected area needs in response to climate change. Known as Choje to the indigenous San people, the Quiver tree gets its name from the San practice of hollowing out the tubular branches of Aloe dichotoma to form quivers for their arrows.

Fajna kompozycja - drzewo i jego "kopia" poniżej.
Czuć zapach Afryki.
Pozdrawiam!

Witaj,

Bardzo interesujące drzewa. Ładne zdjęcie, fajne kolory i kompozycja. Ale byłabym ciekawa, jak z bliska ono wygląda. Czy na tych końcówkach to są kwaiaty, czy liście? A ten egzemplarz z prawej, czy uschnięty?

Pozdrawiam

Małgorzata

Hi Andrzej,

A good detail to this shot and a good note. Looking at the shades, you had the light from behind and that's not really the best condition for a polarizer. That is a bit visible in the shot. The blues could have been a bit more intense, but that would have taken a little walk left or right to get a PoV with the light from the side.

Greetings,
Dennis

Hi Andrzej,
That landscape looks totally dry and hot. No shades of green anywhere. And the closer tree has bare branches. It's always amazing to see what kind of conditions life is able to go on.

Cześć!
Kolejne interesujące afrykańskie zdjęcie. Podoba się pomysł. Oczywiście dobre wykonanie. Piękne kolorki i egzotyczna dla nas przyroda.
Pozdrawiam.

These tree aloes offer a fantastic, other worldly atmosphere and you captured it quite well my dear friend, great shot.

I've always felt it was an ugly tree, but it's a very nice picture. You need the dead tree in lower right to balance the main one in the center. Nice sharpness, too.

Ale egzotyka! Zupelnie nieznana mi. A skad u Ciebie taka znajomosc roslinnosci? Jedziesz widzisz ze cos rosnie i skad wiesz jak to sie nazywa? bo szukac w necie to chyba kazdy potrafi, ale zidentyfikowac cos tak egzotycznego?
Pozdrawiam
