Dead Vlei, 'Dead valley', one of the more amazing place I've seen during this namibian trip. The white / yellow ground (the pan) is made of clay and salt, there was some water here, a long time ago.

The view is shot while climbing one of the highest dune of this area, which is called 'Big Daddy', about 300 meters high.

Bonjour Laurent,

Yves.

Laurent, very strong composition (triangle in left with solid strong base) that split the photo in half diagonally. You've left enough blue sky above the dune on the right to give the viewer the impression that this is not the end and that there is still some way to go to the top.

The acacia karroo trees in the vlei are about 600 years old. I was there last year and the vlei had actually water in! Will post a photo soon about it.

Hi Laurent,
a place I want to visit. I have seen many pictures if this place, but your POV is quite unique.
Very well done.

Jorge

Hi,
Interesting composition, I like this pattern of colors. Good POV.
Cheers,

I had never seen the view of this place from the dune. Very interesting, and an amazing landscape
