Another shot of the surrealistic landscape of Deadvlei. The cracked white clay ‘pavement’ is baked hard by the unrelenting sun and a few white clouds float teasingly in a blue sky; they will soon disappear as the temperature soars.

this place really looks like a lifeless desert, but it is very picturesque view, marvelous colors, superb DoF!
Just a masterpiece! Thanks!

It has a beauty all of its own, this stark arid landscape. I like your composition very much using the V shape of the foreground branches to frame those in the background. The long shadow cast is a fine plus point. Superb saturated colours and exceptional clarity. Thanks for sharing.
I do not believe that there is a gallery in Arles dedicated to the paintings of Van Gogh. But it is possible to visit the old psychiatric hospital where he was treated during his stay in the city. The garden which he painted whilst he was there is maintained as it was during his day in a part of the hospital known as L'Espace Van Gogh.

A successful image

Hello Rosemary ,
One more time , an amazing composition in this outstanding desert . The clouds are so perfectly placed in the picture , as the V in the FG , and the little trunk in the middle .
Great job .

Eccellente, come tuo solito, la nitidezza.
Cioa e buona domenica

I like the graphism of the dark trees against the orange hills, the color combination is fantastic, great composition
ktanska (27260) 2013-08-25 9:41
A great pair to your previous one! On a first look this is slightly less interesting as that curved branch on the other one is so special. But looking more closely, this one reveals clay texture more clearly and spreading of those dead trunks in the background is also fascinating.
HimalAnda (10651) 2013-08-25 9:48
This is another beautiful picture of that place! As usual, the colors are wonderful and the sharpness is very good (I can see many details in the foreground).

Bonsoir, chère Rosemary,
Encore une image qui fait rêver ! le spectacle désolant augmente la beauté d'ensemble.
Je suis admiratif.

Hello Rosemary,I really like the bright colours and the interest of the dead trees.
Best wishes Gladys

Hello Rosemary, you have made excellent use of the V shaped tree to give the shot lots of impact,I like the way that you have positioned it just off centre.
The saturated colours are lovely and of course the details throughout divine.
By the way,I`m not sure if you are aware, but if you right click on an image and select view image the larger version is displayed.
Kindest regards Les.

The colours and the landscape of Namibia are truly amazing! The textures of the drypan surface are almost palpable, whilst the shadows give depth to the dunes.
I like the composition; we have an ancient conductor preparing his choir for a public performance!
My warm regards,

Une autre magnifique photo de ce paysage si particulier du désert namibien et de ses arbres calcinés. Lumière et couleurs splendides.

Stunning scene, the colors and composition are superb. I know I mentored before that this reminded me so much of the movie The Cell, and having just checked, yes part of that movie was made in your beautiful country, so now I know where those amazing dreamscapes are from. I'm just disappointed it took me so long to figure out google would answer that question. That movie is one of my favourite of all time, and a huge part of that is the landscapes they show, particularly from here. Thank you for bringing a fresh new look into one of my favourite places.
All the best

a wondrous sight and amazing capture. I love everything about this shot and the atmosphere it conveys. An almost alien landscape full of sensual shapes, shades and colours. Execution and presentation are just awesome Rosemary. A quality and cracking piece of landscape imagery! Bravo!!!
Have a good week - Brian.

Another spectacular image from the Namibian desert. Great colors and textures, well taken scene.
Have a nice day.
Bartleby (13552) 2013-08-26 8:49
I never get tired of those Namibia picture. yours has bright attractive colors and a good composition with the big dead tree in the foreground. The wide angle also gives a good notion of space.
Cricri (117403) 2013-08-26 8:58
Tout a fait splendide de ce paysage aride, une texture incroyable du sol comme des écailles de poissons, le contraste magnifiques des couleurs, bien sur j'adore
macjake (66652) 2013-08-26 11:30
thanks for the info about the lighting situation here.
nice to know that mornings are best, before the sun heats up and melts everything :)
too bad you can't come here in sunset/sunrise/bluehour times! what a drag that is though!!!
this shot shows off the dry craked ground, and the dead tree seems to be coming straight at me in 3D!
wicked wide angle appearance, wicked clouds, they add so much.
I could go wild here!!!!

A famous place of your home country. And a one that is producing lot of beautiful pictures like yours.

This is an other wonderful shot of the Deadvlai indeed. The sanddunes suround the saltpan like a giant arena with the dead trees being the gladiators in this lifeless landscape.
The shadow of the tree in the foreground is gorgeous.
have a great day
annjackman (21813) 2013-08-27 3:31
Comparing the two pictures I think that I like this one even more because of the positioning of the FG tree. The same gorgeous quality.
Kind Regards, Ann

Nice deep foreground, very strange place, very magnificient.
Janusz1974 (2824) 2013-09-01 1:04
This is one of the nicest places around these great dunes, dead trees give a special mood, your cimposition is great.
olive224 (2719) 2013-09-05 5:06
This composition is amazing, the shadow fills the only empty part of the image, and the colors, saturation, sharpness and exposure are excellent
A master one
--> favorite !
COSTANTINO (63776) 2013-09-21 9:36
interesting capture of this surrealistic
landscapeI like the dynamic contrast of
the blue skyshot divorsed into three
parties and the trees without greenery
and leaves strange enough but impressive
the long shadow is a long is a fine
have a nice weekend
tatadalou (7459) 2013-09-27 12:54
Wow ! Great vivid colours ! There's an excellent light management in this shot, making catching contrasts between dead trees and the "clay pavement" and sand dunes. I love how the trees are placed in the picture. Surrealistic and wonderful !
Waylim (25502) 2013-09-27 19:03
Still very much amazed and impressed by this place. What looks like once it was a firtile with all the trees, which are now death. The Dry earth gives excellent texture and pattern to the image. the orange sand hill is one the thing that draw most of the people here. Really fantastic clarity, with gorgeous sky with nice cloud formation. I would love to see it for myself one day.
colinbrenchley (6431) 2013-10-11 2:52
A beautiful shot of Deadvlei. Although I have visited this area I did not manage to capture a shot as good as this one. TFS.
seb1lopez (187) 2013-12-06 2:11
great light, great colors, nthg is burned (except the trees;) and those trees look like a dead population in the middle of the desert crying for help... really great!
