CAPE CROSS SEAL RESERVE:
The main attractions for tourists at Cape Cross are both: the seal colony and an interesting history of this place. Cape Cross is about 120 km north of Swakopmund along the desert coastline of Namibia.

The seal colony at Cape Cross is undoubtedly the main attraction on the coast between the Skeleton Coast Park and Henties Bay. Large Cape Fur Seal Arctocephalus pusillus population numbers about 80 000 to 100 000 animals. It is on the mainland, so unlike island-based seal colonies, it is not space-limited. During mating seasons thousands of seals can be seen lining the beaches at Cape Cross. Beware Cape Cross is probably one of the smelliest places in Namibia! :o)

Cape Cross has an interesting history. It was one of the first landfalls of European explorers in southern Africa more than 500 years ago. The first European landed on Namibian soil was Portuguese explorer Diego Cao (1486) who erected the first stone cross in honour of King Johannes of Portugal.

Niesamowita kolorystyka. Doskonały moment zrobienia zdjęcia.
Namibia, zawsze kojarzyła mi się z pustynnym krajobrazem, a tu piękne morze. Stonowane światło podkreśla grozę bezkresu wody.
Doskonała robota, gratulacje.

After a hectic day as this Monday, I need a lazzzyyyy rest like this :)This contrast between dynamic background and the silent foreground with these sleepy seals
Hugs

Hi Andrzej,
Funny how well they mix to the landscape. I didn't notice them at all on fingerprint. A good contrast between relaxing seals and breaking waves in the bg.
Kari

I like the seals but I like even more the wave behind it. I don't know if it was on purpose, but you had a great timing on this one
