Photographer's Note
Solitaire, a spot on the map that totally deserves its name...
You read about it, you imagine it, but the surprise is still complete when you finally arrive there, in the middle of nowhere.
A petrol station and a bakery, surrounded by car and truck wrecks, with a couple of cactus for the cinematographic effect...
At a crossroad between Sossusvlei and Swakopmund, Solitaire is an imperative destination not only to fill up the tank, but to taste this incredibly delicious apple pie that has a reputation larger... than the hamlet where it is located.
Blink your eyes and you'll miss it.

André
Le coin ne semble pas très accueillant mais il t'a permis de réaliser une splendide photo aux couleurs fantastiques. Superbe cadrage, excellente lumière pour une photo d'une qualité incroyable.

I agree about the apple pie Andre... but such huge slices! Love the vivid yellow and orange contrast with the deep blue here; a match made in heaven and the vegetation has that dessicated, dried out look which I enjoy. A strong, punchy shot with the shapes of the vehicle nicely graphic against the arid environment. Have a lovely weekend Rosemary

Hi Andre
love this! A wonderful mix of colours that just excite the senses when captured in this setting. Artistic and full of character that just begs to be hanging on a gallery wall. Superb!
Enjoy the weekend - Brian.

Bonjour Andre
De cette vieille carcasse, vous en avez tiré une superbe photo. Belle opposition entre la beauté de la photo et les déchets que la société produit.
Bon W-E

No matter how many times the subject has been done, there's always something attractive about a rusted and abandoned car in the desert. Nice shot of this old beast, with gorgeous colors to match the surroundings, and a deep blue sky above. Interesting note as well - thanks!

Hi André,
Very photogenic old wreck. Those brown colours could be used as camouflage in desert landscape. Blue sky gives strong colour contrast. Close and wide angle is excellent.
(Diesel and Dust of Midnight Oil is one of my favourite albums, and has also desert views on cover.)

Hello André,
As an old car enthusiast, I'd love to visit this place. Oh, yes, and I love apple pie too, so that's another good reason to visit Solitaire!
I rather suspect that this is a 1940s or 1950s Chevrolet and you have captured it in the most delicious soft light. The yellows and browns of the old truck stand out brilliantly against the more sombre coloured vegetation and the brilliant deep blue sky. Perfect light and exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.
Fabulous!
Kind Regards,
John.

Bonjour Anfré,
Jolie prise !
Bon week-end,
Christian

Hello Andre,
One must have a "good seing eye" to make such a capture !
I allways ask myself, how many photographers may have passed by this old vehicle, without taking note of it.
And exactly this is the difference between to look at and to see !
TFS and have a nice weekend

Hello Andre,
I remember the excellent apple pie at Solitaire! This is a frequently photographed subject and I like your version very much. The viewpoint and saturated colours gives great visual impact. There is nothing in the image to take the eye from the main subject. A really excellent image.
Kind Regards, Ann

Hi Andre
another very visually interesting shot! Really like these abandoned vehicle photos, I could spend all day hunting and tracking them down.
Did you open the door yourself? haha!
that open door actually makes a strong impression, it adds a little bit of mystery to the scene.
awesome car, awesome scene
cheers
