Photographer's Note
As it is the time of year to celebrate Halloween and all things that go ‘bump-in-the-night’ I thought I would post another shot of the, so called, haunted house that is situated not far from Windhoek.

Hello Rosemary,
A haunted house indeed! And, having looked at the link you gave to your previous photograph of this place, I wonder if it is haunted by the ghosts of so many oxen who gave up their lives to be some of Katie's Oxo Cubes? Do you remember her?
Your vigorous processing of this image has certainly given it considerable impact, particularly in so far as the sky is concerned. I can just imagine warlocks on a night such as this! Lovely strong vibrant colours, intense contrasts and excellent sharpness.
Fabulous!
Kind Regards,
John.

Bonjour Rosemary
J'aime beaucoup la construction de cette image.C'est une photo qui convient très bien pour l'Halloween avec ce ciel très menaçant et cette maison qui a tout du lugubre.

Hello rosemary,
A fitting Halloween posting ,so drama filled. Love your use of a low. vantage point, the haunted house has a real look of the Munsters about it. The heavy dramatic cloud filled sky no doubt adds a great deal and your punchy contrary presentation is amazing

hi rosemary,
a cracking picture with a wonderfully dramatic presentation. the building looks very menacing form this viewpoint. the colours are fantastic. i especially love the overhanging branches on the right and the clouds and sky which all combine to produce this cracking shot.

Splendid clarity and sharpness. The saturation of the blue and red is deep and the results are facinatingly bright.
You might be hinting at 'spookey' creatures / things but the beauty of the scene is astounding. The contrast of the bright yellow walls that has warmth and the cold blue of the sky has been very well captured. The leafless branches of the trees over the bright yellow wall and across the blue sky provides binding a unity to the composition.
Thanks for sharing ths beautiful photograph.

Bonjour Rosemary,
Très belle ambiance sur cette composition.
Le contraste de l'image et les nuages donnent un aspect inquiétant à cette maison.

You should perhaps license this shot to Hollywood, Rosemary - I could see it on a horror movie poster in the near future. Between the bright but abandoned building and the ghostly silhouettes of trees, I half expect to see glowing eyes peering back at me from somewhere. The sky is the perfect topper too, dramatic and foreboding.
Happy Halloween!

Hello Rosemary,
That's a very fine photo to underline Halloween. The mood is sure there. Beautiful light and contrasts, very good post-processing. Pleasant results. This too doesn't look much African to me. I guess I don't know much about African landscapes. Thanks for being my teacher!

Dear Rosemary
This is a great piece of post-processing work. I actually have an article on how to do the "haunted house" thing, I'll try and find it, scan it and email it to you. But it seems you've mastered it anytway, what a spooky scene, and very timely for the Halloweén festivities. That sky looks so menacing and I love the way the house stands out from it and is lit like that. Well done, thanks for sharing.
Hugs
Lisa
PS: I can see you're getting a bit restless with your photography and are searching for something different, be it in genre or post-processing. I'm going through a similar phase: I'm absolutely bored with my own work. But TE is great inspiration

Your PP makes the house's wall look as though it's illuminated from within! Grand contrasts and I also like the way the grass in foreground picks up the yellow.
I think I would stay away from this house on All Hallows Eve...

Hi Rosemary,
One thing I really love is a good old haunted house, and I have spent probably way too much time trying to hunt them down in Ireland. This to me is a fascinating image, as I love both the theme, and the fact that the architecture is so unusual to me. The sky was really good to you for this image, and looks brilliant with the bright yellow stonework. Thanks for sharing this one, I love this!
All the best
