Photographer's Note

Luderitz is a fantastically windswept and desolate little place, gateway to the Diamond Coast.

Originally valued by German colonialists for its strategic location as a port, the town reached the attention of the world when diamonds were discovered here in 1908. The ensuing rush was legendary, with prospectors inspired by true tales of hidden valleys whose surfaces were quite literally strewn with the gems.

The lure of the diamond fields remains to this day, albeit as a tourist attraction, centred on the famous ghost town of Kolmanskop and supplemented by some excellent guided expeditions into the previously forbidden areas.

Hi Kris!
A great shot from Namibia,
not the famous Himba people , but a wonderful view at this street with these colorful houses.
Great colors and contrast.

Beautifully clear and well-composed shot. It looks like it could be somewhere in Europe - I'm surprised to find it in Namibia. Wonderful colors, and well-exposed to bring out their contrasts.

Je reconnais la belle maison bleue postée hier. Elles sont plus belles les unes que les autres. Quel éclat. On a même droit au clocher en arrière plan. C'est très joli.

great colors work very much as an eye catching factor in your photo and for a moment one can reckon this is almost row of dolls houses. I like different shapes of the building and the slope they seems to be located. Great perspective and composition.

This a wonderfully colorful photo, nicely composed with the church spire in the background. It must be strange to see this little piece of Germany in the desert of Africa.
