[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
We set off as the sun was rising south of Sossulvlei. We didn't travel over the dunes but an equally beautiful apart of the desrt park. The only processing I have done to this photograph is "autocontrast" in Picasa. I am a novice! This has brought out a lot of the colours but I think it might actually be more contrast than we saw from the baloon. However, it was only a moment so it is hard to say. I would value any opinions on how I could make this better, maybe cropping? Though I quite like the position of the second baloon relative to the mountain behind.

Hi anne,

I am no expert, so take my opinion easy.

Nice colors, softer contrast might be better. A pitty that the baloon isn't larger (i.e. closer).
Personally, I would also prefer the position of the baloon to be on the left side to balance the weight of the mountain ridge.

Hi Anne, Quite a striking scene. How to improve? Well I think a little more sharpenning could help. Maybe another baloon toward the bottom left?? Copy and paste? I'm joking. Just one of those situations where you probably have to accept what is available. Looks like a good trip though. Regards Paul.

I agree with above that a softer contrast might be better, but I quite like the composition as it is. The small balloon, to me, actually helps to emphasis the size of the dunes, and helps to create a sense of vastness. I also prefer the ballon to stay where it is now rather than move to the left, and definitely not centre, but that's personal preference.

Hi Anne,
Early bird catches great experiences. Beautiful place for ballooning. I like the composition, the balloon and mountain are well placed. Hard to say anything about postprocessing. As I have never experienced such condintions, so I don't know how this should look like. Colour balance seems a bit purplish though.

I don't know of anything you could do to improve it, I think it looks great. The barren landscape with that one balloon is so interesting to me.
Well done,
Ryan

Hi Anne,

Excellent Landscape and colors of sunrise one of my favorite subjects...

Were you in another hot air baloon..Like the mountain tip that runs some what horizontally..
