A second photo from one of the most beautiful places there is (in my opinion). Deadvlei in the Sossuvlei area Namib Nakluft National Park in Namibia. The trees does not decompose due to the very dry climate. According to Wikipedia the trees around are estimated to be 900 years old.
No post processing, the pol.circ filter did the work...

Hello Stefan - Its always nice to see shots from Namibia. I like your composition and as you say the sky is well saturated, I find that the FG lacks a little detail but the light can be quite harsh and difficult to deal with. Look forward to seeing some more shots. From a wet and cold Windhoek, best regards Rosemary

Strange and fascinating. The tree is well placed just a little bit off centre, and you have another little cloud to balance it. This time there are also some tufts of green vegetation that add "life" to the picture. The colours are great.

A great shot where your polarizer dramatizes the sky and creates a wonderful smooth gradient.
Contrasts are gorgeous and makes the tree popping up from the screen almost in 3D. An amazing place I can't wait to discover - in less than three weeks!

It's hard to imagine this tree EVER being green!
Great colors in the sky and the various shades of brown. Good composition and I like that one little cloud.

Spectacular composition and angle, which gives this feeling of desert, dryness and loneliness.
The presence of a tiny cloud is very instrumental in bringing balance to the shot.
Finally, the colours are awesome.

We missed Deadvlei when we visted this area which I have always regretted. This picture is just how I imagined it. The colours are beautiful and the chosen composition excellent. One very small puffy cloud! Lovely work.

I've never been to Namibia, but this is surely a very unique and incredible place - I've always liked it a lot!
The composition is simple but perfect. I like it in layers, with the lonely dead tree. Such a sense of loneliness here!
Perfect light sharpness and colours!

Hello Stefan ,
Those died trees provide fantastic subjects for the photographers , especially in the oustanding landscapes of Namibia . And you've captured this one perfectly , with the great effect of the filter .
Well done .

Appealing simplicity, with the dead tree as an effective eye-catcher!
The surroundings shows well why the tree died, I assume the situation wasn't always like this...
Great colour palette that conveys the desert feeling so well!
ilDottore (5252) 2011-05-14 5:31
