I am inspired here to post this by Craig's photo. Of course, my tree can't compare to his but I like it anyway. (I HAD my tripod but left it in the tent :)). The photo made near the Sesriem Canyon at sunset.
Wikipedia: Sesriem is a small settlement located in the Namib Desert, in Namibia, close to the southern end of the Naukluft Mountains. It is especially known because the "Sesriem gate" is the main access point to the Namib-Naukluft National Park for visitors entering the park to visit the nearby tourist attraction of Sossusvlei. As many "settlements" in the Namib, Sesriem is essentially a filling station with basic services such as public telephones and a couple of small kiosks where travellers can get general supplies such as food and water.
Sesriem is also known for the Sesriem Canyon, about 4 km from Sesriem itself, which is the second most important tourist attraction in the area after Sossusvlei. It is a natural canyon carved by the Tsauchab rivier in the local sedimentary rock, about a kilometer long and up to 30 meters deep. The name Sesriem is Afrikaans and means "six belts", given by settlers returning from the Dorsland Trek who had to attach together six belts (made of oryx hides) in order to reach buckets down into the canyon to scoop up water. The Sesriem Canyon is only two meters (6.5 feet) wide in some places, and has a portion that permanently contains water, which many animals use.

J'aime beaucoup cette composition. L'arbre est parfaitement placé dans l'image et semble nous faire découvrir le paysage qui l'entoure sous une très belle lumière dorée.

Very beautiful this broad picture, where the view is lost in the vast plain, beautiful backlight of this lone tree, which provides a nice graphic to the composition.
Very nice light and color tone, I think the sun sets.
Have a nice week.
A big hug.

Hi Malgorzata - Really a perfect 'Africa' shot - just as I usually imagine a sunset in the southern portion of the continent. A beautiful orange/gold hue, open savannah, and a lone tree in silhouette. Nice light management here. TFS!

Hi dear Malgo
Today's posting is a little different from your daily touch, malgo. I like this shot very much, as you emphasise the light and shade very well. So tasteful and artstic image as usual but unusual daily style.
Thanks for your posting finest shot and have a good day!

A lonely tree is very often a better motive for a photographer than the whole forest, there are many pictures to prove this here on TE. The feeling of loneliness is quite strong here with the vast plain behind with the background mountains. The dark wedge of the field here is nicely incorporated in the picture and the light on the tree emphesizes the contour. The sepia-like colours also enhances the feeling on loneliness and nostalgia.

This picture looks so timeless, it could have been taken anytime in the history of photography. Those faded colors and a light hint of mauve color cast in the foreground, it looks like a fadet print from ages long gone by.
The scene itself is very pleasing, so typical african with the wast open spaces and the lonely tree acting as a good anchor point.
have a good day

Classic African sunset image with the one tree in silhouette. I love the placement of it and the pale shade of hills in the distance. Excellent colors of the warm sunset and the cloud formation make it more beautiful.
