As the sun sinks in the sky the spiky grasses are illuminated by warm light and long shadows are cast. On the horizon rain clouds release life-giving rain.

The POV is very good and you managed to catch a beautiful light on the grass and the mountain. The sky and its clouds are also very nice.

A very fine composition full of atmosphere. I like the low point of view and the emphasis given to that splendid sky. Lovely colour contrasts and superb clarity.

This is the sort of quality we get when shooting at late golden hour which I love so much. A part from the foreground and the backdrop the skyscape is a real eye grabber, so mouth watering indeed and the little touch of warm tone on the horizon makes it more delightful. Your effort and time well paid off, this is another quality shot. Great stuff!! My compliments :))

Beautiful picture. Because of the well chosen pov we can enjoy the brautiful light on the grass and soil in the fg. The colours and light of the hills and sky are amazing. Nice detail is the rainfall in the bg.

Bonsoir, chère Rosemary,
Superbe lumière valorisant le spectacle offert à travers cette terre désolée aux contreforts arides.
Dépaysement garanti avec la beauté en plus.
Très bonne soirée.

the golden light is really beautiful, and beautiful shades contrast well with each other, the details are amazing in all areas, the framing is perfect and we can see in the distance the storm approaching that for this land to be a welcome event...
have a good WE...

Great sharpness of image. High saturation of colours. The scenery is not just beautiful, the variety of colours and the spread of light from within the grey pathes of clouds are tremendous.
The contrasts of the deep brown hills against the flat landscape of wild grassland in the foreground and the intense blue sky above is fabulous.
Thanks for sharing.

I love the play of light over the grass lands, it does make me think of that feeling you get when rain threatens, and teh air feels electric. And the colours, as ever, are virant and beautiful to view.
All the best

stunning colours in this beautiful low light. the shadows cast over the landscape always help give the land so much more character. the clouds coming in from the left carrying rain are a great inclusion to the picture.
have a great weekend,

Another superb picture of the Namibian landscape. It can be so poorly represented by 'snapshots' but the thought and care that you put into your photography shows us the beauty of this arid part of the world. I like the way that you have caught the rain shower in the BG - such an unpredicable part of Namibian life it seems. Great light and shadow areas and first rate clarity.
Best wishes, Ann

Hello Rosemary,You have managed to portray the drama of the scene very well ,the shadows in the FG are nicely balanced by the darkening sky.
Lovely saturated colouring.
Best regards Les.

An interesting note and a very striking photograph taken late in the day with the low angle of the sun really bringing out all the wonderful textures of the grassland and the distant hills. And, of course, the colours in that threatening sky, especially off to the far left where we see evidence of rain, are wonderful.
Fabulous depth of field (aided, of course, by your use of a small aperture - f/20) and exceptional sharpness. But - and here I'm just being a bit picky - on my monitor I can just detect some bands of darker blue in the sky on the right: I have seen it with my own pictures if I have tried to darken the sky too much or increase the blue or cyan saturation excessively. Can you see it or is it just me?
Anyway, a lovely photograph.

Hello dear Rosemary
What breath taking landscape, where again you've chosen the optimal moment to photograph it. I love how the golden light plays on the tops of the grasses and illuminates the red hills in the background to a deep orange. Had I not read John's critique, I;d never have noticed the band in the sky. But it is there, although not detracting from the beauty of your photo. I wonder what's caused it. It almost looks like a ray of light. Who knows, maybe you've unwittingly photographed a heavenly moment!
Cheers and happy weekend

Hi Rosemary, Haha, Sesriem, we were there also before and during sunset. beautiful color of the mountain in this light. The clouds on the left indeed foresee rains, probably these rains that resulted in the green i saw being there half a year later. Wonderful these grasses.

A sweeping shot with good light and colours, I rarely open landscapes here, but this grabbed my attention, as it also reminds me of my home country Australia.
Have a great Christmas and New Year,
