This shot was taken late in the afternoon close to Sesrien Canyon. I liked the way the low sun was revealing the textures of the velt and casting long shadows across the seasonal grasses.

The late afternoon light is, I think, what really makes this such a wonderful photograph and you have made the very most of it.
The low oblique sunlight shows all the textures of the little tussocks (as they would say "Down Under") of coarse grass against their dense shadows and has also "sculpted" the distant mountains beautifully. And, of course, it has similarly lit the clouds in the sky to give a most interesting and characterful topping to this lovely photograph.
As always, Lovely vibrant colours, perfect exposure and exquisite sharpness.

love this! The little spikes of green in the light are so magical and attractive. A stunning view and captured so beautifully. Exquisite imagery!
Have a great weekend - regards Brian.

Assez intéressant comme terrassement.Je ne suis pas certain que ce serait adéquat pour le devant de ma maison. Le point de vue au ras du sol donne une grande profondeur à l'image.

I have to agree with John,it`s the lovely low light that enhances the shape of the tufts of grass and rocky soil in the FG,whilst the distant hills appear almost as a sleeping monster.
A fine photo, beautifully composed and well presented.
Best regards Les.

When I was there, the grass was totally dry and yellow. Nice to see what it looks like with green color, it gives a good contrast with the red stones in background.
Good management of the composition with the depth feeling shared by this foreground caught in wide angle lens.

A low POV to enhance the lateral light which sculpts the grass among the peebles, and stretching the shadows, giving thesense of volume on the mountains at the back.

Hi dear Rosemary
Yes the depth of this photo is amazing. I agree, the way the light plays on the tufts of grass and casts shadows is really beautiful. The aperture of f/14 has worked superbly. The colours are so lovely and natural too. An exquisite photo, just masterful.
Thanks for sharing, have a great Monday

it's such a delight to view your photos! It's been a while and I've missed a lot of your posts (i actually view them but I just haven't had much time to comment on them-check my recent post then you'll know why). Anyway, couldn't agree more with what you've said. I like the warm lighting that enables the grass to emanate its greens. This is one interesting and stunning landscape. Your photos are simply a temptation, please show me more! I might just be surprised that one day I'm here seeing this view in person!
thanks for sharing!
Have a great day,

This is the kind of landscape that was mesmerizing me when considering to visit Namibia. Vast velds stretching towards the horizon, only interrupted by red mountains, this is quite something to contemplate and fantasize about.
The low light is creating long shadows while warming up their lime colour. The composition is well organized and assuming, with mountains and horizon placed quite high, a decision that I like a lot.
