[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This a shot of the fantastic and much photographed "Kokerboom" or quiver tree forest, near Keetmanshoop in the south of Namibia. The shot was made around 6pm, just before sunset.

The quiver tree is indigenous to the hot and dry southern part of Namibia, and has adapted to the extreme environmental conditions by storing water in its trunks. The wood is very light and spongy inside, and can be easily hollowed out. Therefore the trunk and branches were used as quivers by the bushmen who formerly inhabited this area.

Today, the site has been declared a National Monument, and the tree is a national symbol.

High, great photo, but is this a forest exactly? It looks like a couple or two, of interesting trees, standing pretty separately. :)

hi
It's really nice view. First time I seeing such trees :)
cheers
Anna

Hello Lore,
Really a strange but beautiful tree species; I love its shape, the centerd composition with the others plants at both sides. The illumination at this hour is very nice and warm.
Good job!
Hernán

Oui, souvent vu, c' est vrai, mais tu as bénéficié d' une très belle lumière et tu n' avais donc aucune raison de t' abstenir de prendre cette bonne image de l' arbre carquois. ;-)

Hi Lore,
Wow you have caught some really lovely light in this one...good choice to wait till end of the day.The fact that you hae centered it is ok as you have created a nice symetric image.Good detail and clarity and a complimenting frame.Well done and see you again.
Regards, David

Superbe lumière qui met en evidence la beauté du kokerboom.
Bravo Lore.
Alberto

bonjour Lore, the landscape indeed has a biblical atmosphere, great compo with the tree, and the obviously harsh light is well managed, la luminosité est spendide, bien amicalement
