Photographer's Note
Another shot of the view out across the Etosha Pan. Here, I think, the vehicle adds to the feeling of endless space.

Hello Rosemary,
I like the composition and the lighting. The vehicle and its reflection are well placed and along with that sumptuous sky help to give the scene depth. Very good colours and sharpness.

Another amazing wide open shot of the flats here, Rosemary - just a stunning sky here, and a great illustration of the nature of the land at this spot. The SUV - pin sharp and with a great little reflection - is a perfect detail for the scene, as are the tire tracks which you've kept in FG leading us in. Though there might be a tiny bit of unevenness here (tilt down on the left?) the vast nature and the close details make it a really impressive view.

Ciao Rosemary,
This could be outback South or western Australia. Remarkable similarities. The 4wd adds scale & a good focal point. Nice warm cold colour contrasts between the blue sky & red sand. Good sharpness & contrast. Tfs!

Un superbe ciel dominant cet étonnant paysage aux fantastiques couleurs. Sur mon écran, l'image semble un peu trop lumineuse...mais je ne suis vraiment pas sûr de la qualité de son réglage!

Hi Rosemary
This is not a conventional landscape, however I'm fascinated by the earth tones against blue. Fabulous image, the composition is excellent with the shot taking you towards the horizon and the extensive depth of field gives the effect of sitting under the open sky especially when focussing on the distant white jeep which is so well placed creating an excellent contrast and strong focal point. The curvy tyre tracks add that extra interest in the fg as well, the lay-of-the-land and bright, contrasting colours make this a very fine image. I find very exciting and you have expertly caught the surroundings! Spot On

Ciao Rosemary
questo è quello che si chiama immensità, più piccola solo in confronto all'universo, ma con colori più belli.
Ottima l'intromissione del fuoristrada, visto qui sembra piccolissimo, in una città sembra un tir.
Saluti

Hi dear Rosemary
This would have to be one of my favourite places in your Gallery. The salt pans really are amazing and what's even more amazing is the quality of your photo and the way you manage to get so many different shots from the same place. This reminds me alot of those marvelous salt pans in Bolivia. The stark colours and textures are amazing. The wide angle lens has worked a treat on the clouds - they seem to go on forever. And the inclusion of the jeep - in reflection - gives us a wonderful sense of scale of this vast and desolate place. A beautiful photo - yet another to be so proud of.
Hugs

Hi Rosemary
well, you basically took the words right out of my mouth. The endless space is an excellent way to describe this one.
its amazing how one scene like this can make the landscape seem to go on for infinity.
i think the clouds really aid in that.
wicked shot!!
cheers

Hello Rosemary,
Sorry I've not been very active here on TE over the festive season as I've been a bit busy.
I'm intrigued even more to see your lovely Namibian photographs since I've started watching David Attenborough's new "Africa" series on television. There was some wonderful footage of widlife on last week's programme but, of course, there's little in the way of pictures such as this of the environment.
Again, the two complementary colours, blue and yellow/orange, contrast well in this photograph and the details and contrasts in that interesting sky are superb. The composition is perfect with the vehicle perfectly placed in the frame and the curving shoreline leading the eye well into the depths of the image.
But what intrigues me is that the reflections of the sky in the water are so much lighter than the sky itself: normally water reflections of the sky are darker than the sky. Did you use a ND graduated filter for this or is this just a feature of the salt pans?
A beautiful photograph!
Kind Regards,
John.
P.S. Very Best Wishes for a Wonderful 2013!

Hi Rosemary,
only the reference that offers us the vehicle that you have included in the framing can break a bit the sensation of immensity of the landscape.
The depth of the image, its great sharpness, and the chromatic power, they do a superb and attractive composition.
It's a beautiful work.
Best wishes,
Josep

Hello Rosemary
I guess its not easy to compose with such open space & no focal point to anchor the shot. You've done well with the wide curve in the FG & also the good contrast between the warm brown & cool blue. What's also interesting is that the reflected sky color is rather drab shade of blue, which I think is due to the whiteness of the salt pans...this you have evidenced well in the WS post. I think though you may have been a bit aggressive on the sky's blue...a bit less saturation would do fine!
The vehicle helps in focussing our eyes well. Good work!
Have a great Sunday & with warmest Regards
Angshu
