[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Etosha National Park with its 22270 square kilometres is one of the largest parks in Africa.

Visiting Etosha was great experience. We saw giraffes, zebras, quite a few different antilopes, ostrich, warthog, jackals and lots of colourful birds.

What comes to photography it was a painful learning lesson. In Etosha you are not allowed to leave car, except on designated picnic places. And I was using polarizer for the first time. With a modest zoom reaching 200mm, shooting from a car with motor running, overexcited and sunglasses on I didn't notice that exposure times were too long. Almost all photos turned out to be shaken and blurry. Back at home with prints in hands the disappoinment was bad.

I think this one is pretty decent. Scanned photo with the usual fight against noise.

Hi, Kari!
To emotional to be reallity... Fantastic scene! Nice shot...
regards,
Ivars.

Hi Kari,
I was thinking about writing about this small blur, but reading your note I understood. It gives a strange feeling to the picture. I like the coulours of the foreground, against that cloudy sky, but maybe you could have chosen a tighter crop, on the left side.
Anyways, the result nice, despite the circumstances.
Regards,
Youssef.

What luck to catch the giraffes in this position. I don't agree with Youssef about the crop as I think you need the space for the giraffe to look into, so he is not looking straight out of the frame. Well composed despite your difficulties and sympathies for the ruined shots.

Hi Kari,
the scan isn't the best but the scene is really good.

Kari bonsoir - this shot is not decent, it is wonderful and splendid - very very nice scene and superb colors -
great
Thanks
Gaby

Salut Kari
La scène est superbe, lumière et composition, ainsi que l'attitude des girafes. Vraiment dommage le manque de netteté
@+ Toni

hello Kari,
a wonderful image and pose. Lovely composition. I can sympathize with your disappointment, it happens to most of us at times. Maybe next time!
Tahnk you for sharing.

Hi Kari, I like this one a lot, it even seems that the giraffes are always there, as an inseparable part of the landscape, or in kind of sculpture; they nicely stand out against the sky, TFS! Daniel

Terve Kari,
Given the conditions you mention must not be easy at all, next time mount the 200-500mm Tamron on your 350D and you'll get elephants as far as Kenya from Namibia ;-)
I find sharpness acceptable on this one, and their position is excellent, light is good too, a good wildlife scene.
Have a nice week end,
Jean-Yves

Very interesting capture, Kari.

Hello Kari
A good image considering the scan. Brightness is just fine. Image is simply National Geographic...only may be you could have cropped the barren portion on the left & maybe sharpened a wee bit.
Regards
Angshu

hi

excellent shot afterall. i love the you u captured the giraffe. neatly framed. you should not be disheartened. you did a great job...

La lumière d' Afrique crée un superbe spot sur cette scène, même classée X.
Très beau ciel servi par une bonne composition en tiers.
Une photo qui mériterait un scan de meilleur qualité.

Hi Kari,
don't worry it's a great picture, the subject is really good.
I hope to go there in the next future, I love these kind of places.
