[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
One of the few shots i took in Etosha that didn't contain lions, elephants or giraffes. What i tried to capture in this photo is the vastness of Etosha. Looking across the pan in this shor there was nothing but emptiness as far as the eye could see.

I used my 50 mm lens with a circular polariser attached. Shot in early afternoon.

I had some problems with noise in the sky from the scanning. I used neat image to get rid of this. Otherwise this photo hasn't been PS at all.

Suggestions, criticism and comments welcome.

Following Josh's comment I have posted the original scan (pre neat image)for comparison. The original print from which this comes does not contain any of the noise evident in the sky.

Any help on this one would be appreciated.

Very cool shot . . . I love the color of the sky. Namibia is high on my (very long) list of places to go. I love this kind of vastness.

Nice shot. I like the colours a lot. However, I think you have gone a bit too far with the NeatImage; it looks a bit like an oil painting now, rather than a photograph as a lot of the detail seems to have been lost.

i really like the composition and the positioning of that fense. the sky looks a bit weird though

I like this a lot, I'm not sure it quite speaks to me of teh vastness of Etosha, maybe more the vastness of the universe. The colours are amazing, I can't imagine seeing a sky during the day with such a deep blue.

Very nice shot Brendan. I do understand the scanning problem.. So i won't look at it. I love the composition in this one, and that's enough for me.

Great abstract composition. Interesting dof with only the fence in sharp focus.

Etosha is magical isn't it?

Yes the scan is poor, but the scene isn't. Well captured.

le dégradé de bleu est superbe, très profond! j'aime aussi le flou au premier plan, il rajoute un petit plus a la composition

great shot again brendan. I really like your work (or vacation?) a lot:-) this photo IMO conveys an impression of segregation thru the fence, and the blur from the heat. could be a good illustration of the israeli-palestinian conflict too;-) what do you reckon?

Very enigmatic picture, well done. I like the colors but I don't like the effect of Neat Image on the sand, so I made a workshop with your original picture.

Brendan,
Nice photo, the colors and saturation is very good. I think that it could use a little sharpening and I think that NeatImage left some artifacts around the fence poles. But the tone and texture of the image is very nice. I like it.
