A lonely tree in Etosha Park, in the North of Namibia. In the background you can see the Etosha Pan.
Etosha, meaning "Great White Place", is dominated by a massive mineral pan. The pan is part of the Kalahari Basin, the floor of which was formed around 1000 million years ago. The pan was originally a lake fed by the Kunene River. However the course of the river changed thousands of years ago and the lake dried up. The pan now is a large dusty depression of salt and dusty clay which fills only if the rains are heavy. This temporary water in the Etosha Pan attracts thousands of wading birds including impressive flocks of flamingos. |

Bonsoir Emmanuelle.

What a beautiful picture. I love this kind of landscape, just a lone tree against a simple but amazing scene. Great composition and well taken! Very simple but very effective!

Bonsoir Emmanuelle
j'aime cette compo. Cet arbre isolé et sa forme de parasol équilibre très bien ta photo
Les teintes sont superbes
Bravo

Fantastic landscape Emma. Your description combined with the image paint a picture of a very harsh environment. Love the shape of the tree and I could have sworn the "pan" was actually a body of water until I read your great description. All the best from New Zealand.
