| I met this lady in a village near the old Portuguese part of Pemba. She was cooking dinner on her front porch, and I asked her what she was making. She invited me to dinner, which I declined explaining that I had to meet someone soon, but asked if I could watch her cook and learn the recipe. She was a natural teacher and loved showing off her cooking skills, with good cause. It was delicious. Isn't she beautiful? And I love the way she tied her Kapulana with such a flourish. |
