[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In the 60’s all the Sundays we took a clay-sanded road from Inhambane to the today’s famous
Tofo Beach.


Everybody (almost) agree that this is the “beach” of all the south of Mozambique...


The Praia do Tofo stays roughly 22Km from Inhambane a stunning and fantastic part of the cost natural protected with black rocks forming authentic natural pools or mini-lakes with warm waters.

In these rocks, take a look at the WS for another view, and the map coordinates location, the
mexilhão, a kind of mussel was and still is a delicious aperitif..
The local people is “fetching” the mussel under the curious look of two brothers.. so I heard…

Very original again, with a very peaceful atmposphere and an exclelent sharpness. But I would suggest you should try to mask the fingerprints on the sky in workshop. I reid a small workshop but you had to do it on the origianl scan.

Hi Rui - this is definitely an interesting documentary, for such a vintage shot, the image quality is remarkable, the faint sepia tones add atmosphere.

A most enjoyable shot from the 1960s with some European relaxing in the beach among a lot of local people collecting mussels. TFS.

Hello Rui,

I always like to see with nostalgia tourist places before they were tourist places. Even if Tofo beach is still very nice, everything is tourist-oriented.
I have only discovered Africa recently. I really love it, but I can not stop thinking I should have discovered it 30 years earlier (which obviously is not possible as I was not born).
