[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
More than 40 years ago, my father said:
walk along in that way… I’ll show to our family in Portugal what I’m doing here… in MOZAMBIQUE .. building a low income housing scheme for the poor people.
It was a Sunday.. I remember that!
I was “hungry" and screaming for an ice-cream...

This is Inhambane in the 60’s where I live until I was 12 years old…
..
a long time ago…
I have to write this:
Inhambane .. means in the local "dialect" "terra da boa gente" wich is: "The Good People's Land" the name that the portuguese great navigator and discover VASCO da GAMA gave to these stuning land... and still is... so I heard.

J'aime beaucoup ce cliché, il évoque des souvenirs, de la nostalgie et des paroles qui restent gravées dans la mémoire.
Cet appareil photographique argentique à soufflet faisait d'excellentes prises de vue.

A nice picture, full of nostalgia here, one of these pictures which is more than that, since there is history in it, the kind of pictures which used to be taken in the past, when photography was less a hobby and more a way to catch a moment of life, and kept in an old box to be shown to the grand-children many years afterwards... Thanks for sharing this part of your own history.

It's a photo which conveys the modd very well and the off-centre position of the kid is very nice. But for presenting it here, I would have cut out a bit of the not very interesting bottom third (see workshop).
I look forward to going to Inhambane in August, maybe - with the help of the coordinates - I can see what this exact place looks like now.

A really great idea to post a photo from the 1960s Mocambique. It is amazing how good the quality of the B & W photos were in those days. TFS.

Oi Rui, entao isto e uma foto que o seu pai fex de seu projeto em Mocambique? Este garoto ai e vc? Esta uma beleza pura. Nao sei porque mas no momento esta uma verdadeira onda de se postar fotos antiguissimas em TE. A sua alem da otima documentacao de mais de 40 anos atras ainda tem o link para a camera. Excelente ideia!!! Eu tenho uma maquina muito semelhante que eu herdei da minha avo ano passado. Ela ainda esta totalmente funcional. To planejando a levar-la no verao ao Yosemite e tirar umas fotos originais em P&B para postar em TE.

Olá Rui,
Uma bela foto em que o efeito nostálgico não vem apenas da idade, mas também da própria compo, muito simples e aparentemente casual mas de alguma forma cativante.
A nota está muito adequada, algo poética.
E gostei que tivesses deixado as manchas amarelas.
Eu ainda tirei algumas fotos com uma máquina semelhante à do teu pai, uma Agfa 12x9 do meu que, comparativamente à minha pequena Olympus Pen que me deram quando tinha para aí 10 anos, tinha uma definição impressionante por ter os negativos tão grandes. Grande parte das fotos do meu pai foram tiradas com ela.

Mais uma fotografia que conta uma história, a tua história, uma marca de afeição e laço familiar que não se pode esquecer. A dimensão, e diria densidade, destas imagens dão um sentido à fotografia em geral que pouco tem a ver com a banalisação actual devida ao mundo digital. Um registo que atravessa as décadas com um interesse inalterável.
